Carolina Vein and Laser Specialists are experts in the treatment of spider veins and varicose veins. We use the latest, non-invasive treatments that are virtually painless. Each patient’s veins are different, requiring different procedures to ensure success.

Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is simply the injection of medication into an abnormal vein to eliminate the vein. When an abnormal vein is eliminated, overall blood flow is generally improved. The medication used depends on the type and size of the vein being treated.

Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy
With this technique, sclerotherapy is performed while the practitioner visually monitors the vein on an ultrasound screen. This enables treatment of abnormal veins that can't be seen because they are below the surface of the skin.

Endovenous Chemical Ablation
Endovenous Chemical Ablation is a catheter-based treatment similar to Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy. By using a catheter to deliver the medication, the veins can be treated.

Endovenous Laser Ablation
EVLA (Endovenous Laser Ablation) is an excellent treatment alternative to surgical stripping of the saphenous vein. A small laser fiber is inserted through a needle stick in the skin into the damaged vein. Pulses of laser light are delivered inside the vein which causes the vein to collapse and seal shut. The procedure is done in the office using local anesthesia. Following the procedure a bandage or compression stocking is placed on the treated leg. Patients are able to walk immediately and are usually able to resume normal activity immediately.

RF Closure
The Closure Procedure is another treatment alternative to surgical stripping of the saphenous vein. A small catheter is inserted through a needle stick in the skin into the damaged vein. The catheter delivers radio frequency energy to the vein wall generating heat. As the vein warms, it collapses and seals shut. The procedure is done in the office using local anesthesia. Following the procedure, the catheter is removed and a bandage or compression stocking is placed on the treated leg. Patients are able to walk immediately and are usually able to resume normal activity immediately.

Ambulatory Phlebectomy
Ambulatory Phlebectomy is a method of removing larger, bulging varicose veins through tiny needle punctures. This is done in the office using local anesthesia. Because the vein is removed through a needle puncture, there is virtually no scarring.

Laser / Intense Pulsed Light
Laser and light based treatment are especially effective for facial veins, broken blood vessels and sun damaged skin. It is also useful in combination with sclerotherapy as an adjunctive treatment for small leg veins.
